My second New Years with UM, the last Mirro show, the second half of Abbey Road. I have great memories of this show and it sounds amazing today.

Subject: pretty cool
I don't usually go for the New Years and Halloween gimmicks of the jam bands; all too often they seem great on paper but then the actual performance leaves something to be desired. But here they work OK. The sax on Ringo is nice, and the Beatles covers are pretty good. But it's the regular UM tunes that are the best thing about this show -- Nothing Too Fancy and Mulche's Odyssey in particular.

Subject: Umphrey's is supreme
This show is pretty cool, but for me it really served as a reminder of how far they've come in just three short years. To say that some of the more recent shows I've seen and heard have knocked the socks right off my feet would be an extreme understatement. If these guys keep it up, just imagine the possibilities...

At the very least, I can say that I am pumped for the many years of Umphrey's music yet to come. WOOOOOO!!!

This definatly belongs on every UM fans list of shows. Good quality and playing, just awesome. And UM's strong suit may not be their singing, but that's no reason to not give this show 5 stars. Brandon Bayliss is a great singer, and so is Joel and so is Jake! AWESOME

This is a good show, good playing, reminds me of whatever. THe quality of the show is good too. These guys are fast players. Fun stuff! Worth listening to at least once if not more.

Subject: Nothing Too Fancy
If you are passing by I would at least recommend dowloading the Nothing Too Fancy that kicked off this show. It is some really amazing stuff. Also the segment around JaJunk was really nice.

It was a fun idea to cover Abbey Road, but Umphrey's strong suit isn't in their singing...

Subject: Its Ump....
So ya know its good, but I've listened to many shows that have done it a lot more for me. Its been a couple months since I've listened to it, but it never made its way into my rotation. Beatles covers were nice to listen to a couple times, otherwise there are other shows better than this one in my opinion. Still Ump, so compared to all others its a 5 star, but relative to other ump shows I give 3/5

UM is one of the most talented bands today. Their sound is like no other. in 2004 My high school was graced with having Umphrey's play at the official after party...oh what a treat!!!!

Subject: Original Umphreak
Yo, there are way too many haters out there. Sure, I agree that Umphrey's has fans that are trying to be hip while not wanting to dig the groove. But what band is void of this? Phish? Dead? SCI? I think not. I mean come on, you "grad-school" hippie! Umphrey's is so so so so freaking talented masters of music intellectually. What sets them apart is their vision and ingenuity! Now you tell me Madison Hippie, what band on the scene has the passion and vision as UM? Don't give me no mindless jam-band garbage. As for this show, it's a must have download. Saying thanks to Mirro and passing the torch on, now that's class. By the way, this band has a great heart, soul, and concious to boot. Oh, you haters truly piss me off. Go ruin someone else's buzz.

I dont care what any cynical bastard says about Umphreys and their following, this show is hot. Too many covers? I doubt it, the only reason they played the beatles is because it was the theme for the new years show...other than that they cover flock of seagulls, miles davis , and fugazi...thats about it. Umphreys is the tightest band on the scene, no question. This show is worth the long download, don't listen to stupid SCI fans, they dont know what a rock show is.

Subject: Don't like the Dead?
Umphreys played with Phil Lesh on Mardi Gras and performed a pretty good dead cover - franklin's tower. good show - always high energy. check out their bonnaroo set - amazing. these guys are talented and different and put on a show like no other. saw em in colorado recently...insane in fort collins. sold out in boulder the next two nights... still tryin to figure out exactly who they are posin....

Subject: okay but nothing to get worked up about
This show is average. The sound is great (matrix) but the playing is average. These guys are a great cover band but they chopped up the Beatles.everything else sounds pretty decent.I heard these guys don't like the dead or phish that's why they wont cover their songs. If you want to download a good show of umphrey's then download something from 04.They are definatly tighter now then this show.I cant believe this is their most down loaded show.Sorry its not that good compared to anything else I have dowmloaded from them.

Subject: Get this show.
Why are the Grateful Dead and Phish being talked about? I thought this was a different band. Take them for what they are. Don't compare them to other bands. Also, how can you Nay Say them for not playing a beatles song perfectly? How many times has Phish butchered covers? A lot. Easy on the bullshit, download the show because it rocks.

Subject: Show smokes - Don't listen to Phish fans
...hey, I like a good Phish jam every now and again too, but I hold very little stock in the musical opinions of their fans (I know that's a generalization, but I simply don't care).

Onto the matter at hand, sound quality is solid and Umphrey thumps and throws down their muscular sound...easily one of the best, new acts going. They're time is gonna come.

i saw this show and if it wasnt for this show, i would not know anything about live music downloading. this was my first archive download back in the day and im just comin back to get a fresh copy. nothins worse than a skippy live show. ick

Subject: OK
I like this show. I don't know enough about the band to get into much song by song detail but the eclectic instrument choices add a nice touch to the eclectic song selection. Abbey Road is cool I guess but String Cheese already did a New Years show with the complete second side of Abbey Road so it seems kind of unoriginal, but perhaps fans of both bands might enjoy comparing the 2.
Good sound.

I just download this show in random and I am nothing but impressed with the originality and musicallity of this band.

The sound quality of this show is amazing (the best 8 hrs of use my computer's been put through for a while)

Subject: Incredible show, good sound
This show is brilliant. Amazing. And a whole mixed bag of other superlatives on top of that.

Umphrey's really are on fire that night, the added percussion and especially the steel drums by Meyers and Mirro are a nice twist (the steel drum jam on the third disc is a beauty!), and then I haven't even mentioned the Beatles covers.. excellent and mesmerizing.

On the whole, the good sound, excellent renditions of many songs like (among others) N2F, Ringo (nice touch added by the saxophone), Prowler and Hurt Bird Bath (interesting version with steel drums), combined with the incredible Abbey Road cover, many good jams and a generally nice selection of Umphrey's more accessible songs make this both an essential for the long-time Umphreak as well as a perfect show for those new to this amazing band.

Conclusion: Download. NOW!!
